12/23/2009: Dear Santa,
I know that I am on the top of your list for all the cairns at this house, because my foster mom said that I am the bestest behaved one! The best gift I have ever received was being taken in by Camp Lone Star. :) I know that because my aunties at Camp Lone Star are trying to find me the bestest forever home!
I don't mind my foster home, most of the time, because I like cuddling with my foster mom and sister. I am stuck with 3 boy cairns here and I sometimes have to be the fun- police, especially when that little boy Charles gets too hyper. All the boys know that I am the boss. If you can help my aunties find me a forever home (especially one where I will be an only furkid, because I have low tolerance for hyperactivity) that would be great! Or, if you could find Charles a forever home, that would make things much more quiet around this place in the mean time!
Things I like to play with here are plastic toys that have bumps on them. I play with ones here that I carry all around the house and even outside. I am just a simple "refined" girl that likes my walks, snuggles, occasional romp with the boys and play with my plastic toys.
I will set cookies and milk out for you Santa!
Love, Sally
08/27/2009: Sally is destined to be somebody’s BFF (Best Friend Forever)! She is petite and fluffy…loves loves LOVES stuffed animals…and loves to be cuddled when she’s not busy playing. Sally likes to follow her Foster Mom around and supervise her movements. Nothing that Foster Mom does is uninteresting to Miss Sally. LOL! Sally also likes to walk along the couch back and curl up near Foster Mom’s neck if another foster dog already has Foster Mom’s lap.
Sally gives the impression of having just been doted on by somebody in her former life. She tolerates the other 2 dogs in her playgroup, one female and one male, but she doesn’t really play with them. She focuses on her Person and would probably be happiest being an only dog.
Here are some new pictures of this little one for your enjoyment. They were taken when she was playing in our living room last weekend. If you think Sally might be your next BFF, please go to www.camplonestarrescue.org and fill out the online application there beside her picture. Sally says, “Thank you! I’d like to be your little Princess!” 04/06/2009: Sally is a beautiful, little, westie girl who was picked up stray in a small city near Dallas. No one came to reclaim her, so CLSR came to her aid! Our vet estimates her age to be 8 years old and she weighs 14 lbs. In CLSR's care, Sally has been spayed and has had her dental. She tested heartworm negative and we keep her current on her heartworm preventative. Her shots are all in order and she's been dewormed too.
Sally is a good-natured little girl who likes to follow you around quite closely and supervise you. She plays well with others, but prefers to be the apple of YOUR eye if given the chance. Sally walks happily on a lead, but isn't trained to stay only on your left so some leash training work would be very good for her.
Sally sleeps quietly in her crate throughout the night. She has only been with us a short while, but she seems to be housetrained. No accidents so far anyway. I'll update you on this as we continue to work with her. When she came into CLSR's foster care, Sally had some flea- bite dermatitus on her hindquarters. With the application of Frontline to remove the fleas, though, that is clearing up now quite nicely.
Some things we have learned about Sally in our short time with her are that Sally is very food-motivated and will be easy to train therefore. She is feeling much better since her dental (5 decayed teeth were removed which HAS to feel better this side of it) and she has a sparkle in her eyes quite often...especially if she sees you coming to play with her! Sally's bark is unusual in that it's deep and husky for such a feminine little girl! When you're walking in the yard with Sally, she has this little bouncy trot that makes you think of a happy little spring bunny! :)
Does little Sally sound like the companion you've been searching for? If she does, please go to www.camplonestarrescue.org where you'll find her picture and the online application for her. Sally says "Thank you! I'd really like to come be YOUR little girl!" :)
