06/21/2010: Hi! Miss Glory here, and I'm writing this to some special person out there that I just KNOW is my future forever home. :) You can see from the latest photos that Miss Gayle took of me that I recently had a brand-new haircut so that everyone can see what a true beauty I am. And now I am going to tell you what a wonderful little girl I am, too!
I'm very petite and still have my girlish figure. I am totally housebroken, as all ladies should be. I have my own doggie door here in my foster home, so I just take myself right out that door when nature calls. When foster mom is at work, I have a nice big x-pen that I spend time in. I am not a barker, so I would be happy living in a house or an apartment, just as long as you give me lots of hugs and scritches!
I get along with all dogs and would love to have a brother or sister to play with, but if I'm the only doggie in the family, hey, I can certainly live with that too! I'm such a quiet little lady that my foster mom has to come looking for me on occasion. She usually finds me all stretched out on my nice, big, comfy bed that my secret Santa gave me for Christmas, or I'm curled up in my crate taking one of my beauty naps.
I need a quiet kind of Forever Home and family. I don't like loud noises as they scare me and usually send me scampering off to my crate until things settle back down. I don't chew on things that I shouldn't and actually I prefer to play with my own doggie toys.
Do I sound just like the perfect little doggie that you have been searching for? If so, please fill out the adoption application for me at www.camplonestarrescue.org and remember to put my name on it. I'll be watching for you !!!
Hugs and kisses,
Miss Glory 09/06/2009: Glory continues to progress in her foster home and no longer shows some of the fears that she was showing when she first arrived.
She doesn’t think twice about prancing right up to men now and asking for love pat’s or back rubs. And the longer you will stand there and pat or rub on her, the better she likes it! :) This gal loves all the attention that she can get, while not demanding it.
She can tolerate noise better than when she first arrived, but she still doesn’t like a lot of loud noise. So she will probably do best in a home that is mostly on the quiet side -- one that doesn’t have a lot of loud activity going on all the time.
Glory has learned to tell time and, believe you me, she will not let you forget when it’s time to eat! If foster mom is busy at Glory's normal meal time, Glory will grab her water bowl and walk very slowly with it in her mouth and suddenly appear wherever I am. Then she just stands there with her bowl in her mouth, looking at me, with that look on her face that says, “Hey foster mom, did you forget something??? Where’s my grub! Aren’t you gonna feed me?" She is really too cute when she does this!
Glory still rarely barks and is very quiet around the house. She is so quiet that sometimes I have to go searching for her throughout the house and will find her curled up in one of the crates or in her bed. She would do very well in apartment living or any place where a very quiet dog is required.
Glory is just the best little Cairn girl with so much love to give! You won’t be disappointed in adopting this beautiful wheaten gal! If you'd like to apply for her simpatico companionship, please go to www.camplonestarrescue.org and click on her bio for access to more information on her and also to her adoption application. Thank you for supporting cairn rescue!
02/25/2009: Miss Glory has been in our foster care now for several months and she has proved to be just an absolutely delightful Cairn Lady! Her coat has grown out fully and is a stunning reddish-blonde, as we all suspected it would be. :)
Glory has become fully housebroken. She'll go to the area of the back door and whine to go outside if the doggie door is closed; otherwise she goes right through the doggie door and into the yard to take care of her business.
Glory spends her days in her x-pen while foster mom is at work and does very well. I put newspaper down and she hardly ever misses the paper should she have to potty. I keep her toys and crate in her x-pen and she is very quiet.
She seems to love to dig in the yard, but not necessarily to try and escape. She just enjoys playing in the dirt. However, I would recommend making a play yard for her escape-proof...just in case she accidentally does dig a hole close to the fence.
Glory is not a barker and is really a very quiet little gal. She gets along very well with all the other furkids here in her foster home and she has a couple "special buddies" among them too.
Glory has earned the trust award and, at night, she sleeps in her little bed on the floor in the bedroom with foster mom and all of her foster sisters. She doesn't wander through the house, but stays in her bed until morning.
When Glory first arrived, we had a little bit of a chewing problem on things she shouldn't chew on, but those days are long gone now. She seems to enjoy chewing on just her toys now.
Glory is still having a few issues with her trust of humans when you pick her up. She will still go stiff as a board when you pick her up and remain so the entire time you are holding her. But she will run up to you and put her front paws on you for love and attention. And boy, this girl loves to be petted and loved on! She is one of the sweetest little Cairn gals you will ever meet. She is really a big, cuddly lovebug!
Glory is looking for a forever home and family to call her own. And a fur brother or sister would be a bonus for her! If you think she might fit well into your family, please go to www.camplonestarrescue.org to fill out an application for her. A member of our adoptions team will follow up with you promptly.
Thank you for your support of cairn rescue! :) 07/12/2008: Little Glory was found wandering stray in an East Texas county with her friend, Nick, about a month ago...and things weren't looking too rosy for her. She was taken to the local kill shelter, but she had no microchip, no one claimed her, and her coat and nails were horribly overgrown -- painfully so. And her time was running out !!!
But now she's been safely rescued from there by CLSR and things are really starting to come up roses for her in her new life with us. :)
Our vet guesstimates Glory to be about 7 years old. She has been brought up-to-date on her shots, dewormed, heartworm tested (negative), and spayed. At the time of her spay, she also had a dental and had one tooth extracted. In CLSR's loving care, she's kept current on her monthly heartworm and flea preventatives.
Glory seems to have been a former backyard breeder dog because while she's not afraid to be handled, she is shyer than one that's been kept inside as a pet. She is very sweet-natured. She bosses Nick around when they play together, but is very submissive with her Foster Mom. She likes stuffed animals and stores them in her sleeping crate. :)
She's afraid of men, so we're working on that. Most likely, her former owner -- the breeder -- was a man and treated her like a production unit, not a living creature. We see this fearful behavior toward men a lot as an aftermath of that. But cairns are amazingly resiliant and Glory will learn to trust again in baby steps through continued good experiences with her Foster Dad here. :)
Glory's just a little girl...only 11 lbs. :) Her coat was so overgrown and matted that it had to be completely shaved off, so her pictures are on the skimpy side right now. We think that, when it comes back in, she will be a very beautiful cairn red!
Glory sleeps quietly in her crate all night and she doesn't soil it. She doesn't know the leash yet, but we're starting to work on that with her. As we have more information, I'll post more about her. Right now, she's not quite ready to be adopted...but will be soon. Do you have the time and love to give to this sweet little former Mama? She would love to give hers to you! Please go to www.camplonestarrescue.org and fill out an application for her, if this sounds like a plan to you! Thank you.
